Tobias Hauser - University College London
Friday, June 2nd Talk Session 4: Alteration of decisions in psychiatry 16h - 16h30 Altered exploration is linked to impulsivity Arbitrating between exploring and exploiting is a key challenge for humans and artificial agent. Humans are believed to use several different complex algorithmic strategies for solving this trade-off. In my talk, I will show evidence that humans complement complex strategies with simple heuristics, and that these are under control of different neurotransmitter systems. Moreover, I will show that a specific exploration strategy, value-free random exploration, is linked to impulsivity across multiple distinct study samples. Together, my findings will clarify the link between transdiagnostic impulsive traits and exploration.
